I worked at CASOS at CMU, who apparently contract for the CIA, and let me exercise my first amendment right to tell you about the horrible software they are developing there. They developed software to analyze social networks, that is groups of people, from emails, messages, any kind of internet based or NSA tapped information.
They are using this software to attack social networks and destabilize them, to prevent legitimate resistance from forming against whoever uses the software. At the time I worked for them, my best friend severely censored me for joining them. He knew that the work they were doing was rotten. But I didn't heed him and to my great shame I worked there for 9 months.
This type of software development, which is basically software to figure out who to kill, is about the antithesis of what I would ever want to work on.
Watch out, don't fall for the same trap as I did.
